I was born on 7th May 1975 in Zagreb. I started my education in Hamburg where I lived with my family for four years. After we had returned to Croatia, I continued my education in Zagreb, where I graduated at Mathematic Highschool in 1994. The same year I enrolled the Academy of Dramatic Arts as a DOP student. During my studies I have filmed the following short movies :

I also studied for one semester at the Budapest Institute of Film and Theatre, a program strictly in cinematography, 1988-1989. In 1991 I recieved an award for Excellence in Cinematography at the New York University film festival as a director of photography.
• Professional: I have spent over the last eight years working in Los Angeles/Hollywood in Lighting on productions ranging from commercials to feature films. I primarily work as a Gaffer (lighting director) on features films, TV movies, and episodic television. I have found the emphasis and experience I've gained in lighting to be an invaluable tool in my pursuit of cinematography. Lighting, to me, has always been one of the most intriguing aspects of the photography of any movie.

MATS JOHANSSON

My name is Mats Johansson and I am 31 years old. Both my parents are stillphotographers so it was an easy choice for me to also become a photographer. I have been making pictures for as long as I can remember (it is actually the only thing that I am good at, I think). My father told me that one never stop learning to be a better photographer and I believe him, so I try to grab every opportunity to work with other, more experienced D.o.p.´s, and there is plenty of good D.o.p.´s here in Sweden I think. Then I try to implement there ideas to my own type of shooting and hopefully become more experienced myself. I have written down some of the things that I have done so far in my life. I think that the list where surpricingly long, but I dont think that I am an experienced D.o.p. at all. This little text does not tell so much about me or who I am, but I think that it is very difficult to try to tell the story of oneselve.

EDWARD GODSELL

Ed Godsell comes from Cork city in the Republic of Ireland. At the age of 22 he has entered his final year of a four year degree in Film production at the Dun Laoghaire institute of Art, Design and Technology In Dublin. Before this he worked with theatre lights and has a background in photography.

In the last three years he has worked on many short films, first trained as focus puller for 16mm cameras before working as operator and also D.O.P.

Last year Ed worked as lighting camera person on three Irish music videos, two short films and one English docudrama. Some good, some admitedly fairly mediocre. Most short films he has worked on have played the national festival circuit, most music vids have been played on national t.v and the English docudrama is being blown up to 35mm and screened in Dublin and also, eventually on channel 4. Proper Training in cinematography is difficult to find in Ireland and so understandably Ed is looking forward to the two weeks in Budapest not just to further his skills but also to sample those famous baths!
