My name is Goran Legovic.I was born on 5 of February 1977.After
the highschool I have worked at Croatian National Television
for three years as a cameraman and technician and at the private
Croatian television station in Pula where I was given a great
experience in lighting and camera work.After that I have passed
the entrance exam on the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb,department
of film and television cinematography (camera).I just finished
my fourth year and I am preparing my diploma.
During the four year cours in cinematography I have done
many film and television exercises with young directors (dramas,short
films,chases,studio work....),black and white photography,fashion
photography,comercial and publicity work..In the summer of
2000.I have attended a workshop for cinematographers and directors
in the Imaginary Academy in Groznjan, Croatia, where I have
done a documentary film with a young director from Georgia.I
have worked on a second camera as a cinematographer on the
documentary "Rusted Years" (done by A.Korovljev).In
a winter of the year 2000. I have worked for the production
company called Factum and I was the cameraman on the documentary
film called "New Era" (done by Rajko Grlic and Igor
Mirkovic).In the spring of 2002.I have worked as an assistant
on the Croatian-American coproduction,feature film "
A Man Called Rage" by Zachary Winetraub.
With a short feature film "The Fall" (done by a
young director Miroslav Sikavica) I was in the competition
at the festival called "The Days of Croatian Film"
,year 2002. and at the festival of student film in Munich.
This autum I was given the opportunity to do my own first
short feature film on the 35mm film tape called "The
Butterfly".This film began its life as an extended version
of an examination piece in the final year of the camera course
in the Department of Film and TV at the Academy of Dramatic
Arts,in 2003. entitled " A Trap for the Cameraman".It
was produced by Jadran film so I was given a high quality
equipment that usually is not used for a student projects.
With "The Butterfly"I was in the competition at
this years "Days of Croatian Film"festival and at
the festival of student film in Zagreb,Croatia where I won
the prize as a best cinematographer for the year 2002.
Right now I am working as a photographer on a film titled
"Libertas",directed by Veljko Bulaic.
I sincerely hope You will consider my application for the
summer workshop because I would really like to expand my knowledge
and discover new things about film and cinematography.

Date of birth- 13th Oct 1975
Having graduated in electronics from the Osmania University,
Hyderabad, India I went on to do a masters degree in theatre
and also worked as a freelance photographer for 3 years. I
specialised in black and white landscapes and portraiture,
processing and printing the photographs in my own studio.
All through my high school and even during my graduate years
I was certain that I would be pursuing a life in cinema but
the 3 years I spent working as a photographer really concretised
my ideas about creating images. It was when I felt the need
for my still images to move, that I decided to study cinematography.
My profile-
Worked as DOP on "notes on her" short fiction film,
shot on 35mm black and white-
"Notes on her" was the official entry to Student
Oscars from India for 2003
I've also worked as a DOP on 3 short fiction films (shot
on 35mm color, 35mm black and white, and 16mm B&W)
I have also directed two short fiction films (shot on 16mm
B&W and digital video.)
Apart from these I have shot several short films, documentaries
and corporate films on video.
Future Plans-
The Cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, Jaromil Jires,
Robert Bresson inspire me. I desire to work with, filmmakers
who try to break new grounds and are constantly engaged in
rediscovering cinema.
