What I expect from the Masterclass is learning, learning and more learning... Lighting techniques, equipment, craft and proficiency, team work, color and texture, creating atmospheres, Lab and timing... I am also looking for creative refreshment and watching to different visions of cinematography, sometimes I am afraid of only having the tools that my school had give me, I am sure that I can learn a lot from the other scholars and obviously learn from the Masters of cinematography.

Why the Masterclass: I´m always concerned about trying to find out the best way of shooting something. There´s so many important choices to make and probably infinite ways of doing things. Weather it´s lighting, colors, achieving a certain look or simply where to put the camera. So sometimes you get lost and you find it hard to find a concept for the visual style of the project that you are working on. Everybody has his or her own way of doing things. I´m very much interested in learning more about these different approaches. How do other people find their visual concepts? Obviously there is no right and wrong, but I´m very curios about other people´s way of thinking: Why they shoot this way or another and where their inspiration is coming from. I find this more interesting and more important then talking about the latest gadgets and tools. This of course can´t be neglected completely and on a more technical level I´d be interested in learning about how to create certain looks through lighting, post processes and things you can do in camera. Yet, all aspects have to work for the story. They can´t stand for themselves. I´m looking forward to hear so many opinions!

During the past three years, while working towards my degree in film and TV production, my mind has been opened to the wide range of possibilities regarding visual storytelling and I am hungry to learn more. I find the development of ideas and the collaborative process during pre-production stimulating and thought provoking, while the technical sides satisfies my curiosity about how things work and pushes me to find new approaches to film making.
Specifically, I would like to learn more about lighting techniques but most of all I am looking forward to being part of a group that shares my passion and love of cinematography and to have the opportunity to be mentored by some the world’s foremost cinematographers. Having only just finished film school, I feel incredibly privileged to be part of the Masterclass.

The Film and Television Institute of India has given me the opportunity to hone my skills and explore my creativity by imparting technical training and exposing me to the world of cinema.I am greatly honoured to have been selected as one of the

“Picking the shades from the vast palette of nature and human elements and breathing life into the frame is the real challenge before a cinematographer. Every story demands its own visual grammer. While in this endeavor, it is the cinematographer’s individuality that sets a frame unique. And it is the approach that brings out the individuality. Working under the supervision of the Masters at BCM would help me understand what goes into the making of ‘unique’. From the cinematography greats, I hope to learn the nuances of the craft which is partly art, partly skill and partly intution.
At the Masterclass, I look forward to meet the talents from film schools across the globe. It would surely open up a range of perspectives and approaches towards the art of cinematography. This would also be an opportunity to learn about their culture and values. Interaction with the scholars and working with the Masters would surely help me identify and fill up my shortcomings and take me through the journey ahead.”
